Los Cabos, Mexico (October 10, 2023) - Mar del Cabo by Velas Resorts, an adults-only boutique hotel in Los Cabos, Mexico, introduces a new Escalonada experience for weddings and special events. This unique offering draws inspiration from the festive "callejoneadas" of San Miguel de Allende, a beloved tradition where wedding parties parade joyfully through cobbled streets, with tequila flowing and oversized "mojiganga" puppets leading the way. At Mar del Cabo, Velas Resorts' only European Plan offering, participants will be serenaded by live musicians as they descend from the lobby of the hotel down to the beach. Along the way are curated stations, each offering cocktails and authentic Mexican culinary delights. Participants can sing, dance, and relish the festivities, all against the backdrop of the hotel's white washed walls, colorful Mexican tiles, fuchsia bougainvillea, and deep blue Sea of Cortez. Mar del Cabo offers the Escalonada in themes like Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and boho chic or decor can be fully customizable. Menu highlights of the Day of the Dead Escalonada include a Castille squash and ricotta cheese dumping with habanero ash mayonnaise and a Baja Oyster with Xoconostle mignonette (made with fruit of the xoconostle which is a close relative of the much more common Prickly Pear/Nopal Cactus). The Catrina, made with white Tequila, orange juice, lime juice, cinnamon-marigold syrup, red wine, and brown sugar, is a top cocktail pairing.
Priced at $59 USD per person, the Escalonada experience includes five stations, each with one signature drink and two artisanal canapés. A buyout of the property is required with a maximum of 120 people. The Mariachi band is available separately, with prices starting at $250 USD. Additional costs apply for custom decorations.
