Mexico's Velas Resorts announces 2 Michelin Star Chef Fabrice Vulin and Michelin Star Chef Matteo Grandi will headline The Grand Chef Stars and The Culinary Fest events this November in Los Cabos and Riviera Nayarit respectively. Under the direction of Maître Cuisinier de France Michel Mustiere, Culinary Director of Mexico's Velas Resorts, the annual culinary events are part of the resorts' commitment to promote local and international gastronomy and trendsetting culinary offerings for guests. The dining experiences plus additional meet & greets and cooking demos from the top chefs are included in the nightly rate.
From November 27 - 30, The Grand Chef Stars at Grand Velas Los Cabos will see two 2 Michelin Star chefs join together for a four hands dinner of extraordinary cuisine. Chef Fabrice Vulin and 2 Michelin Star Chef Sidney Schutte of Grand Velas Los Cabos' Cocina de Autor restaurant will serve up a collaborative nine-course dinner of contemporary cuisine. Currently executive chef at Macau's Tasting Room, Vulin has three decades of experience working at - and leading - some of the best restaurants in France, Switzerland, Morocco and Hong Kong. Recognized as "SVH Meesterkok", the highest recognition a chef can achieve in the Netherlands, Schutte gained extensive experience in prestigious kitchens throughout Europe and Asia under acclaimed chefs Richard Ekkebus, Roger Souvereyns, and Jonnie Boer. His Dutch heritage, passion for travel and four years in Asia shaped his palate and inspire him to present various taste sensations within a single dish.
Taking place from November 21 to 24, The Culinary Fest of Italy at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit will feature Chef Matteo Grandi alongside executive chef Guillaume Morancé and Adrián Aguayo, head chef of the resort's Lucca restaurant. Winner of the first season of Hell's Kitchen Italy in 2014, Grandi received his first Michelin star this year at his restaurant, Degusto Cuisine, in Verona. Born in Vicenza, Grandi left Italy at the age of 18 after completing his studies. His journey led him to Shanghai where he became Sous-Chef of "Da Marco" Italian restaurant. It was in Asia where Grandi met French chef Jean-Claude Fugier, disciple of renowned chefs Paul Bocuse and Alain Ducasse. Alongside Fugier, Grandi spent time in the kitchens at several Park Hyatt hotels in Shanghai, Kuwait and India before returning to his native country. With over 22 years in the kitchen, Morance has served in some of the best hotels and restaurants in leading world capitals such as Paris, New York, Saint Petersburg and Moscow. From Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, Aguayo was in the kitchen at the AAA Four Diamond rated restaurant Piaf at sister resort Grand Velas Riviera Maya.
